============================== visit: www.planetstarsiege.com/presto Presto's Tribes ScriptPak 0.93 for information about what's new with ============================== this release! Hello to scripters and players alike! This is the version 0.93.8.1.chi.RC9.7.iota release of Presto's Tribes ScriptPak. I think that there's something useful in here for just about anyone who plays - or plays with - Tribes :) Players will dig the new chat, menu, team tracking, and camera features - and coders can use these routines as a start to their own scripts. These scripts are all client-side, which means that no server modifications are necessary to use them. The Warning =========== Some of my scripts involve changing very integrated parts of the game such as the on-screen menus and other GUI objects! I don't think there are any bugs which would make your game more unstable, but it's possible. If you are at all worried, please do not run my script. For that matter, installing any script has the potential to really mess up your game! I have tried to make my script as easy to install as possible. I wish I had the time, but I can't help you debug if this script isn't working for you. Make sure you read this document fully before you attempt to run my script. Installation ============ Please visit my website at http://www.planetstarsiege.com/presto and visit the installation section for information about how to install my pack. The summary: * UNZIP WITH SUBDIRECTORIES. * UNZIP INTO TRIBES\CONFIG DIRECTORY. * ADD THE LINE exec("presto\\install.cs"); TO YOUR AUTOEXEC.CS FILE * IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, VISIT THE WEBSITE! Uninstallation ============== Please visit my website at http://www.planetstarsiege.com/presto and visit the installation section for information about how to uninstall my pack. The summary: * RUN THE COMMAND UninstallPrestoPack(); AT THE CONSOLE * EXPECT TRIBES TO CLOSE SUDDENLY. The Files ========= Each of the files in this pack is heavily documented at the top of the file. Please read the files to find out how to use them in your own scripts! To the Scripters ================ You have full permission to base your code on my scripts -- that's what I wrote them for. You can freely distribute this code as long as you include all the files as you received them. I don't mind if you want to override my functions but please don't distribute edited files. Please do not distribute scripts which use my code, but break the pack. If you're fixing bugs, I'd love to hear about it! I will make the changes part of my code and give you credit. Visit my website at http://www.planetstarsiege.com/presto and check out the Scripts section! It's a collection of other scripts which are compatible with the PrestoPack. I've also included links to all of the major scripting http://www.videon.wave.ca/~writer/tribes.html (Vis-DS.Writer) http://www.cetisp.net/~thammock/scripts/ (Zear) http://www.planetstarsiege.com/scripting/ (KillerBunny and Cryect) http://labrat1.simplenet.com/sstribes/ (LabRat) http://www.tribesworld.com/scriptworld/default.cfm (Ninja Spider) And three public discussion forums: http://www.planetstarsiege.com/datacore/ (Tatanka) Check out the scripting forum for great suggestions from other scripters. http://www.tribesplayers.com/tribesplayers/forums.html (Dynamix) Check out the Scripting and Mods forum http://www.datumplane.com/forum/tribesmods/ (//schnoz) I want to thank KillerBunny, Zear, DS.Poker, Vis-DS.Writer, DWeasel, Nocturne, XP-Lux, Mjr. Phule, Boredom, GrymReaper, Crunchy, Lord Harlock, ShokugE, Cowboy and Dego[DOA] for their suggestions and/or help on the PlanetStarsiege Datacore forums. I've used some of their code in these scripts. I'm sure there are several people I'm forgetting, and I'm sorry! Also thanks to everyone who's been working on releasing new scripts which are compatible with the PrestoPack. The scripting scene is really heating up! And of course, many thanks to the Tribes team for making the game so amazingly customizable :) Hey, if anyone on the Tribes team wanted to, say, give me a few hints about how to manipulate GUI objects, I'd be much obliged. Thanks everyone and enjoy the script... - Presto 4/8/99
